Minecraft is developed by Markus Persson. It''s been under development since about May 10, 2009. You can read the full credits here, or read about support and frequently asked questions here.


Origins:

I started Minecraft after playing some Infiniminer with a couple of people from TigSource. I realized that a game that simple yet that dynamic had a lot of potential to turn into a really great game, and kept coming up with things I wanted to change and stuff I wanted to add.
I had recently quit my job as a game developer to be able to focus more on indie game dev during my free time, and I was looking for a new game to develop. I had a few ideas floating around, but most required really long development times.
These two factors led to Minecraft.


Development and Philosophy:

Waterfall is dead, long live agile!

I''ve got a few plans and visions, but my only true design decision is to keep it fun and accessible. There''s no design doc, but there are two lists; one for bugs, and one for features I want to add but think I might forget.
I make sure to play the game a lot, and I''ve built my share of towers, and flooded my share of caves. If something ever doesn''t feel fun, I''ll remove it. I believe that I can combine enough fun, accessibility and building blocks for this game to be a huge melting pot of emergent gameplay.
I strongly believe that all good stories have a conflict, and that all good games tell a good story regardless of if it''s pre-written or emergent. Free building mode is fine and dandy, but for many people it will ultimately become boring once you''ve got it figured out. It''s like playing a first person shooter in god mode, or giving yourself infinite funds in a strategy game.. a lack of challenge kills the fun.
For survival mode, I''d rather make the game too difficult than too easy. That also means I''m going to have to include some way of winning the game (or some other climax) to prevent it becoming too exhausting.
But if it''s no fun, I''ll redesign.


The Future:

I plan on developing Minecraft until it''s a finished complete game, with a downloadable client (with fullscreen mode), custom key re mappings and possibly modding support.
For as long as people enjoy and purchase the game, I will develop extensions after the game is done.
Once sales start dying and a minimum time has passed, I will release the game source code as some kind of open source. I''m not very happy with the draconian nature of (L)GPL, nor do I believe the other licenses have much merit other than to boost the egos of the original authors, so I might just possibly release it all as public domain.

New Features

  • A new AA3 Loader application is provided with this release to enhance the front end of AA3. This application will start automatically when launching the game. This tool provides the ability to create or delete soldiers, view your soldier’s Personnel Jacket, view combined player stats, and launch a game server. It also offers updated news, game manual access, and links to the America’s Army website.
  • A new inventory item! The M106 Fast Obscurant Grenade (FOG) will instantly create a cloud of smoke to cover your actions. Essentially, it works like the M83 with one important exception: a short fuse. If you try to cook the M106, it will likely blow up in your hand and cause an injury. A new “Up in Smoke” achievement has been added when a teammate is revived within the cover of an M106 smoke cloud.
  • Improved ladder functionality: to mount a ladder, face ladder and press the “use” key (spacebar by default). When approaching a ladder from the top, the player will automatically turn and mount the ladder upon hitting the spacebar. This eliminates players from needing to walk backwards to attempt to go down a ladder, missing it, and falling, causing leg damage. As an added benefit, a player may choose to release from the ladder by hitting the spacebar again, thus giving the player more options with dealing with enemies while using ladders.

Gameplay Changes
  • Change to After Action Review (AAR) panel to better convey the player’s combat effectiveness during the previous round.
  • Added display of achievements for all players on the server so they are shown in the AAR.
  • Interrupting a reload (after seating magazine) now results in a chance of malfunction.
  • Updates to Spacebar Context system to correct several edge cases. This only affects selection when player is within multiple volumes (Vault/Mantle, Ladder climb, healing a teammate, ES2, etc.).
  • Better fix for players that are blocked while climbing ladders continuing to climb through other players, objects, the floor, or into the air on remote clients.
  • Flashbangs were tweaked to make them more effective when deployed indoors.
  • Improved VIP extraction ending - new sounds and proper stopping of countdown and audio when team is killed while extraction is active.
  • Weather handling has been further optimized in Shanty Town to reduce network usage.
  • Implemented the new AG Award when graduating BCT.
  • Zip-tie roll over animation is now played when players are secured.
  • Fix for ''ladder snake'' bug where player is seen sliding up the ladder after grabbing onto the ladder while sprinting.

UI Change
  • Fixed the scoreboard to highlight the player''s name in yellow.
    Bug Fixes
  • A memory usage optimization pass was done to reduce our game client memory footprint.
  • Another network performance pass to reduce bandwidth on glass heavy maps.
  • Fixed Mr Zip Cuff and Tag and Bag localization to reflect actual 50 enemy secured/confirmed in order to earn (rules were correct already).
  • Several hundred minor map related issues (on all maps) were addressed by our LDs.
  • Updates to Leaderboard functionality to increase number of entries, fix to allow full use of character font for names, viewing full Leaderboard no longer overwrites the mini-board values, and adjust UI size to allow longer descriptions in mini-board.
  • Cleanup of a variety of server-side log spam.
  • Removed some client side log spam related to authentication.
  • Cleaned up some inventory logging.
  • M320 no longer miscounts rounds fired or rounds hit.
  • Fixed a TS3 thread hang/deadlock that randomly occurred.
  • Fix for ragdolled enemies not being confirmable. This cuts out the distance check involved for confirming a dead enemy since the ragdolled pawn can travel a considerable distance client side in some situations....such as falling down stairs.
  • Fix for mission type not updating on the team select menu.

Map Fixes/Changes
  • Alley: Fixed an issue where a few objects were sticking into the wall. Fixed an issue where certain trash bins were not accepting decals.
  • Alley: Fixes involving an ES2 gray bin object labeled as a laptop.
  • Alley - Discovered that there was a wall in buckets that had been duplicated on top of itself.
  • Alley: fixed "hole in world" bug along with a few clipping meshes.
  • Alley: Fixed issue where grenade goes through the fire escapes near the loading dock.
  • Alley: Changed collision volume on the van to better support shooting grenades near it.
  • Alley: Fixed a clipping issue with the dumpster near the hotel boiler room.
  • Alley: Fixed issues that caused the carried objective to be unretrievable.
  • Bridge: Rotated spawn points on the South side in the AO map type.
  • Bridge: Fixed grenade over-pressure issues in the North and South towers.
  • Bridge: Adjusted collision volumes and fixed several clipping issues.
  • Bridge: Comm Volume updates
  • Impact: Updated VIP mission to add smoke and light to the extraction flare
  • Impact – Updated activated objective loading screen mission description
  • Pipeline: Fixed issue where a player can access and fall into a pit at the exterior valve building
  • Pipeline: Fix for unclimbable ''vine ladder''
  • Ranch - Added some decals back to the main house, adjusted the v/m volumes around the windows, fixed issue where player can get stuck in the corner of the bridge, and many other minor issues.
  • Ranch – Fixed issue where grenades would go through hay bales.
  • Ranch – Fixed some sound volume issues in Greenhouse.
  • Stronghold: Fixed several clipping issues in arches
  • Stronghold – Fixed inconsistency in bullet penetration on deli walls
  • Stronghold – Fix to Tower Café Patio chairs to allow bullet ricochet.
  • Shantytown: Fix issue to keep players from getting stuck near the docks, and fixed an issue where a player can get stuck under a building.
  • Shantytown – Camera view clipping through wall, floating table, floating grass, adjusted blocking volumes on TV set, corrected Comm volumes on North side of Central building, and many other clipping issues.
  • All maps: Several ES2 object issues fixed.
  • All maps: Adjusted ladder positions to make them all consistent with how the new ladder system is supposed to work.
  • All maps: Variety of Physical materials on object modified/updated.
  • Training: Fixed issue where carriable objective was invisible in training levels.
  • CONEX-MOUT: Updated the shoot-house walls to be bulletproof. This should keep players from accidentally murdering the drill instructor.

Asset Fixes
  • Changed the physical material from metal to plastic for the blue-grey bins.
  • Added a phys mat to the bathroom sink material.
  • Stronghold_Comm/Env: Added local materials to the package so as to be able to apply the appropriate physical material needed.
  • BFT_Background - Removed extra baked lighting from the VIP mission from the map texture.

Admin Control Panel
  • Added the ability for ACP admins to kick players to the Spectator Team.
  • Punkbuster panel updates correctly after first use.

Punkbuster Updates
  • When a player is kicked by PB (directly or via Admin PB kick) the generic PB message is now displayed and when dismissed a "PunkBuster Kick Details" message box is displayed with the detailed reason why the player was kicked.

JA Hosters.at wir zu 99,99% Ranked Server anbieten können und wir werden das natürlich auch wieder für euch zu einem Fairen Preis machen.

New Features:

  • Every Soldier is a Sensor (ES2) additions
    • ES2 is the process of observing and reporting to help provide a clearer picture of the battlefield and making it safer for fellow Soldiers and civilians alike. If Soldiers are observant and report suspicious items or other important information to command, someone with a larger view of all reported information can make a more informed decision about what the data means. The ES2 game play in AA3 brings awareness to the importance of being observant when on regular missions. The developers have implemented features within AA3 that will reward players for being observant and reporting back relevant data that they come across during their mission.
    • ES2 missions will have objects randomly placed in the map. As players move through the maps, they may notice an object that seems out of place, or looks "suspicious". The player will need to determine what type of object it is by moving close to the object and centering it in their view. They will receive a context HUD message which will tell them what the object is. The player can then report the object via hotkey. HUD and Audio feedback will give the player confirmation and inform the player as to what type of object it is and provide additional instruction or information if needed. A player that reports ES2 objects within a round of play will be provided with a small amount of Army Value scoring 1 to 19 points.
    • ES2 training is included as part of the MOUT training course. ES2 objects are contained in the level. Observing and reporting these objects will help reduce the player’s MOUT time by gaining some additional flash bangs you can use to stop the timer. It also flags your account as "ES2 Trained" which will shorten the time it takes to identify ES2 objects in multiplayer games.
  • New two maps
    • Shantytown is a variable weather (no rain to heavy rain, wind, thunder and lightning) close quarters battle map which includes VIP and Activated objectives.
    • Stronghold is a larger castle based map that includes all current mission types.
  • New Blue Force Tracker (BFT) features
    • BFT updated and enhanced. Player may change zoom of the BFT using the mouse wheel.
    • Extended Map Updated: The player may access the BFT extended map by using the tab key. The updated extended map will also allow the user to play with it continuously up by changing the transparency using the mouse wheel.
    • Spectator Extended Map added: Players may now toggle use of the Extended BFT in Spectator mode by pressing TAB.
  • Steam Leaderboards: This release also features what we hope will be a neat new feature - a bunch of new leaderboards! Using a newly added Steam client feature, player leaderboard and stats updates will be available when running the game through Steam.
  • Admin Control Panel has been added to allow server providers to manage servers in-game. If the user has the appropriate server access, it will appear in the main menu.
  • You can now use the Steam client server browser to join an AA3 game server without starting the game first. For those using Steam we highly recommend you minimize your Steam client once you start America''''s Army in order to reduce the amount of memory Steam uses.

 


New Gameplay Changes:

  • Treating someone will now use the victim’s IFAK instead of your IFAK as long as the victim has an IFAK. If the victim does not have an IFAK, you will use your own. What this means is that as long as either you or someone else has an IFAK on your team, you can still be treated.
  • We also have several performance changes including one that should improve how the pawns are rendered which we believe will further improve client-side performance. We also cleaned up a lot of the server logging so it won''''t clog up the server and many other instances of log spam in the client were addressed.
  • Spectating players should now have a bit better view of the world (one centered a bit higher up than the pawn''''s belt) and should in general be a better experience and avoid some of the crazy views seen in earlier builds.
  • Team changing rules were modified so you can join the spectating team at any time and leave it to return to a team at the end of a round. Announcements are made in the chat area to indicate when players join and leave teams. A new server-side INI option was added to allow server operators to disable this feature.
  • A change for those playing (or playing against) the SDM - we''''ve implemented a change that should make it a bit easier to suppress an SDM. Our goal with this is to make the SDM closer to what he should be - a designated marksman and not a "super-enemy-killer-who-owns-bridge" soldier

 



Weapons Fixes/Updates:

  • You will no longer see “you cannot fire” when changing fire modes (and in fact the entire animation has been removed since it wasn’t obvious to most people anyway).
  • The XM320 had many fixes done which should improve its functionality in game.
  • Obran LMK weapon jam no longer locks you into Obran until you fix the Jam (you can now switch to other weapons just like with an M249 jam).
  • Fix for XM320 weapon mod not reloading properly after climbing ladders.
  • Fixed the min/max pitch on dropping so it''''s between +/- 45 which prevents dropping grenades on the player''''s head. Also reduced the total distance when dropping a weapon (either by choice or death) so the weapon isn''''t thrown 15 feet away which looks fairly silly. Note that the range for intentionally throwing grenades was not changed.
  • Changed M249 SAW''''s "ironsights" to "None" in the top rail dropdown.
  • Fire mode delay fix. Removes animation for fire mode changing and adds a click sound when the fire mode change is activated on the client. Firemode will not actually change until the server receives the request however which creates a minor desynch issue where you can change fire mode and fire right away before the server receives the client and server will operate in different fire modes.
  • Fix for losing M249 ammo when reloading from a nearly empty clip. Fix for bullet chain to display the proper number of remaining bullets.
  • Bullet weapon jams will no longer prevent the M320 grenade mod from functioning.
  • Fix for glitching M320 when interrupting weapon mod transition with combat slide or dive.
  • Fix for potential to enter a glitched state when attempting to swap to a grenade as the match starts before the main weapon is set.
  • Fix for M249 discarding its ammo box during reload while prone.
  • Fix for wrong ammo shown on Obran held by enemy player after reload.
  • Fixed an issue where if the M249 jammed on last round it couldn''''t be cleared.
  • Fixed the missing aimpoint bug. Should now spawn weapons, loadouts, and rail mods based on user''''s set preferences. Also set the default selection for weapons and rail mods to be the most advanced options (based on training requirements), except for the M249 in regards to box/soft bag ammo (meaning that it defaults to box).
  • The inventory system for weapon magazines and grenades of all types was rewritten to greatly reduce the network bandwidth used by the game. The intent is to reduce network bandwidth and improve server performance as well.
  • US Weapons are now a single mesh plus the sight instead of built out of multiple pieces which both fixes the odd coloring seen and reduces the actor count improving performance on the client.

 


Map Fixes:

  • Bridge - Moved the flare and objective marker for the carried objective bridge mission so that it more accurately shows the center of the extraction area.
  • Bridge - Tweaked the overpressure volumes on both the north and south tower so that they no longer leak out past the containing walls.
  • Bridge - Tweaked the catwalks so that they are all evenly placed, this should help with both moving along them
  • Bridge - Tweaked the Assault/Defend mission so that the defending team gets a win when time runs out
  • Bridge - Fixed a spot on the bridge near an overturned van where a player could get stuck quiet badly.
  • Bridge - Moved one of the picnic tables so that you can more easily pass between it and the tree growing near it.
  • Pipeline - Tweaked the audio levels on the ambient sounds.
  • Impact - Tweaked the loadout on the VIP rifleman role, heavy should now have as many smokes as the normal loadout.
  • Impact - Tweaked a bunch of grocery carts that were clipping into buildings.
  • Impact - Moved an AC unit that was capturing players that accidently jumped behind it and a tree.
  • Impact - Moved some tires that were causing players to get stuck between them and some trees.
  • Impact - Added an extra indirect lighting point cloud so that players don''''t go unnaturally dark in places.

  • Impact - Tweaked a potted plant that was sticking through the railing.
  • Ranch - Fixed a weird and old/recurring lighting error in Ranch.

  • Added TAH mission for Alley (Foggy) in map vote, which was apparently missing.
  • Hopefully fixed the issue where the player can move freely during Grenadier training.
  • Updated mission Intel for Ranch, Pipeline, Bridge.

 



Bug Fixes/Updates:

  • The scoreboard is now sorted by total score, in a descending order. Makes much more sense than sorting by role index.
  • Turned off blocking on collision volume for prone and incapacitated players. This will prevent the volume from blocking grenades thrown above the body.
  • Fixed friendly fire headshots were counting towards Consummate Professional achievement.
  • Fixed problem with voice input device dropdown component in Voice Settings page.
  • Fixed spelling error in follow me coin localized text.
  • Changed the display of the Ready button to gray out during the Deployment phase, versus going invisible. This should clear up confusion about the button "disappearing".
  • Fixed the kismet for CO levels so that all objectives will be available to be assigned in the BP during Auto-Assign, which takes away the reported issue, and brings the
  • Auto-Assign behavior act like it should.
  • Fix for animation problems caused when going prone from a leaning position.
  • Fixes backwards arms when going from prone or crouch to standing while in lowready weapon posture.
  • Fixed issue that would lead to the player being registered in 2 slots after a swap between two players. Made a change to MissionPreplanner which should prevent a player from missing their Cancel button when requesting a swap.
  • Corrected capacitation (revive) response time bonus rule to match other response times of 30 seconds (which avoids a potential negative award for late responders).
  • Fixed issue where toggling scoreboard resets armor opacity even though armor has been depleted.
  • Fixed issue where pressing [H] (or the current M320 toggle) will print "Cannot toggle rangefinder because a reload is in progress." even if the weapon is not outfitted with a grenade launcher.
  • Multiple Training NPC weapon load-out fixes in Weapons Fam.
  • Adjusting load-out handling in single player "explore" mode so ammunition is available using the new inventory system. Note that the new default inventory for single player is to have an M16 XM 320 with 6 M433 rounds, 2 M714 rounds, and six 556 magazines (and a few frags smokes, flash).
  • You should see some cool new head gear and radio gear on the heads of friendly and enemy soldiers when you''''re playing. To have the cool new head gear you must have passed the AIT training for the role you are playing (you''''ll see things like Oakley sunglasses, radio''''s with microphones, etc.).
  • The infamous aim-point not on your weapon after changing teams mid-round bug should finally be fixed.
  • The equally infamous medic bug should now be fixed.
  • Adjusted when the server''''s console titlebar is updated on startup so server operators can verify the mission type and server honor mode prior to any players joining the server.
  • Fixed issue with trying to join a password protected server from Favorites/History not showing password pane.
  • Fixed Favorites/History server info pane not showing valid info, as well as:

  • Switching teams mid round will now bring up the Role Selection screen automatically at the end of the round (after the scoreboard). Also added a server side config variable, bAllowSpectatorsBackOntoTeams, which defaults to true, and allows players who switched to the Spectators team from Black or Gold to return to either team. This can be set to false for tournament style play, if desired.
  • Players who have selected the Spectator team after being on a team (ie team # is 2), should not be counted for number of votes needed for Ready button, since they won''''t have a ready button to press.
  • Fixed 18C MOS description under Construction & Engineering. Left all 3 entries in, since this entry is found in 3 different spots on the GoArmy.com website.
  • Fixed various Go Army->Careers typos.

  • If a player is incapacitated and spectating his own pawn, his pawn will now disappear if his camera gets too close to it.
  • Update entry into server to show the Role Select screen when a new player to the server joins a match already in progress.
  • Added network setting option in video settings.
  • Update that should fix any irregularities with tracked teammates on the BFT.
  • Password Screen now properly shows the Version Number.
  • When looking at an incapacitated player, their status will now show as "WOUNDED".
  • Also, changed the "TREATED" status text to read "STABLE", to more accurately represent the observed player''''s status.
  • Fix for TAH capture getting stuck when entering a TAH volume with an incapped player in it
  • Fixed clipping of the last player''''s name in the Server Info Player List. Also changed out the scrollbars, even though they are being weirdly skewed by the component.

im GamePanel unter "Game Updates" steht ab sofort ein neuer Patch für Battlefield Bad Company 2 bereit zum Installieren.

 

 

Sollte dein Game Server bis zum 11.6.2011 noch nicht auf dieser Version sein, werden wir den Server Automatisch Patchen.

  • The PunkBuster module can now start talking to master servers immediately once the server has connected to Plasma (about 30 seconds after launch). This means that any server that has been online for 30+ minutes should have auto-updated itself to the latest PunkBuster version by then. Prior versions of the game server required a player to enter the game server before it was able to talk to the master servers.
  • The current version of the PunkBuster module can be queried via the serverInfo command
  • Added info about join queue enabled/disabled status to serverInfo command
  • Added server region setting information to serverInfo command

Now you can check the PB version of all your game servers yourself; the BulkServerQuery script can be used to scan all your game servers.
In addition, we can monitor the PB version globally.

New Features

  • New Shadowing Options to allow for realistic vs fast shadows to help with performance.

  • The Battle Planner and BFT/Expanded Map has had several Carried Objective related Improvements made. 
  • M249 and Obran LMK may now jam if player fires weapon in very long bursts.

  • Mission objectives are now shown as a notification (and console) message at the start of the round.

Gameplay Fixes

  • Network optimizations to allow up to 20+ players depending on the server’s configuration. 
  • Lean distance set to return user leaning to the full distance. 
  • Fix to issue where heartbeat sound continued after dying when going straight to death state. 
  • The incapacitated Pawn will now transition into Death-state immediately after being secured. 
  • Player no longer gets locked out control wise after returning from pause menu. 
  • Continued tweaks to vault-mantle system to further prevent issues where player may get stuck when going prone. 
  • Added changes to reduce frequency of bullet shell emitters getting stuck in walls. 
  • Tweaked weapon guard logic when medic option is presented. This helps to prioritize prevents the guard from switching back and forth at the edge of the targeting area, potentially causing a misclick to instigate a nearby action (such as vault/mantle) instead of medic. 
  • Low Ready/High Ready will no longer be repeatedly toggled on and off when pulling away from an activated objective and firing. 
  • Corrected issue where available spawn points were not getting reset after team swap. 
  • Fixed issue where player is unable to fire his weapon, after sprinting and stopping pawn performs combat slide. 
  • Fixed issue where breath hold sounds continued in spite of player being incapacitated or killed while holding breath. 
  • Fix for incapacitated pawns sliding slowly away after falling down stairs and being unable to receive aid. 
  • Fixed a bug where the client wasn''''t getting it''''s crouching/proning flags updated after a failed transition to those states. 
  • Adjusted player prone so that a player’s torso must be supported completely by the ground or floor, otherwise player will fall into crouch position. 
  • Fix for lack of ladder footstep sounds from NME players. 
  • Changing roles during a match did not actually cause role to be swapped at the end of the round, which led to someone who chose the Squad Leader role for the next round not being able to use the Battle Planner Map for objective/rally point assignments. 
  • Rally-points (area of operation markers) now reset before rounds 4, and 7. 
  • Adjustments made to ROE including supporting a “near ROE” distance. This fixes ROE totals so that if the ROE is forgiven the integrity is now given 1/2 of the original penalty and ROE is adjusted so it''''s only 1/2 of original damage. This corrects the near/far determination and adds in a new rule that doubles the ROE and scoring penalty for close ROE events (less than ~5m). 
  • Adjustments to leaning added. 
  • Fix for weapon getting stuck down after sprinting vault/slide. 
  • Updates to weapon guard functionality. 
  • Changes to prevent player from climbing ladders while holding a grenade with pin pulled. 
  • Assigning objective as rally point will properly report the location to fire teams. 
  • More tweaks to reduce the chances of “Gunface”. 
  • Weapon guard will not wait for player movement when checking for clearance if the guard was triggered by collision with another player. 
  • Fixed issues with footstep sounds when moving backwards down steep inclines...such as stairs. 
  • Corrected issue where incapacitated pawns were not all facing the same way on all clients. Changed the method used to position and rotate incapacitated pawns so that all players see the same thing. Note that different players may still see the incapacitated player laying on different sides (e.g. One play may see the incapacitated player laying on his left side while another may see him on the right side). This will be addressed in a future update. 
  • Fix to prevent swap to a grenade from cancelling reload if there is no grenade left to swap to. 
  • Adjusted inventory system to limit players from picking up a third rifle. User will be notified that they cannot carry any more weapons. 
  • Fixed issue where the wrong team was given the victory if one team is eliminated during a swapping round (4-6, maybe OT). Now the correct team earns the victory and the correct results are displayed in the AAR when a team is eliminated or a team completes the objectives.

 

Weapons Fixes

  • The m320 will now correctly select its ammo from the misc. inventory list on the right side of the HUD. 
  • Added extra guards to reduce sticking scope effects for some situations. 
  • Added reset for lingering scope effects after a map change. 
  • Added additional checks to prevent scope issues caused by vault-mantle volumes. 
  • Added checks to disallow toggling of fire modes during a melee attack or sprint/ 
  • Added checks to reset scope after falling while holding breath. 
  • Corrected issues causing misplaced aimpoints when using scopes. 
  • Modified reload cancelling for m4/m16 weapons to restore the magazine that had been removed instead of forcing it into a pouch. 
  • Allow selection of iron sights in load out. 
  • Changes to melee attack to tune attack range. 
  • Fix to allow melee smashing of the Bucket’s restaurant windows from the inside. 
  • Disallow shooting while changing weapon modes. 
  • Fix for bullet penetration with very thin materials such as glass. 
  • Tweaked DMR and Obran MSP unscoped aim accuracy. 
  • M249 will now jam if you fire it without pause with an increasing probability of jam. Weapon will not jam until 40 rounds are fired in a burst and then the chance of jam is applied based on a rising scale up (from 1%) up until the player has fired 100 rounds fired where jam likelihood is 25% for each round fired. Obran LMK also has the same jam support the M249 does. 
  • Changes to prevent repeated fire effects at the end of the clip with quick bursts 
  • Holding cooked grenade that explode sometimes didn''''t kill player. Now it always does. Holding cooked flash bangs that explode will cause a tiny bit of damage (as well as apply the normal flash bang effects). Holding cooked smoke grenades that explode will not hurt you. 
  • Adjusting NME 320 grenadier mod to sight correctly. 
  • Fix for grenades auto-throwing when you swap between lob/throw while pin is pulled (you can once again cook grenades). 
  • Fixed issue where weapon occasionally would not come back up after a grenade toss.

 

Server Additions/Fixes

  • Lots of server-side optimizations improve performance. 
  • Lots of tweaks to server logging that reduce performance. 
  • Added a server side configuration variable, bShowOpponentExtractionVolume. When set to true, players can see their opponents'''' extraction volume in both CO and VIP missions. The current default is set to true.

 

UI Updates

  • Updates to ammo inventory now shows the four different types of ammo on the right side of the display:
  • m16/m4 clip 
  • m249 SAW box 
  • m320 m433 grenade launcher frag 
  • m320 m714 grenade launcher smoke

These icons should contain a picture representing their ammo type. They should also match the style of the other miscellaneous inventory.

  • Changed the Ready button on the Pre-Game screens to to be more obvious. Ready button also added to the Role Select screen. 
  • An issue where the ACOG filter was very rarely being enabled after launch of game and would cause blurring of background at the login screen has been corrected. 
  • Teamspeak now resets when players switch servers so that the HUD notifications are properly triggered if a player changes to a new server or the server switches maps and the player''''s client travels to the new map. 
  • The "Honor Only" filter was updated to show both honor and non-honor bearing servers when set to no. When set to "yes" it shows only honor bearing servers. 
  • Added client-side messaging to explain being unable to toggle the m320 rangefinder during reloads. 
  • Fix for interface settings message display setup where the ''''server'''' and ''''none'''' options were functionally inverted. 
  • Player is now notified correctly when objects block and/or interrupt combat slides and dives. 
  • Added UI support for the new shadow options. 
  • Ready button now works properly on Role Select screen at all times. Also added new feature of check marks next to players'''' names on Role Select and Battle Planner to show which players have actually voted "ready". 
  • The posture indicator should no longer display prone after a failed prone transition. 
  • Added back buttons to all Go Army child pages and fixed some graphical bugs. 
  • Messaging for some missions is incorrect (VIP especially) when enemy team is eliminated. This corrects multiple missions’ “messaging”. 
  • Rank wasn’t displayed correctly in game UI. This corrects SMA rank display and next rank display in Soldier overview (and changes how the next rank to display is calculated). It corrects one the rank field for one rank in the rank conversion table (changes First Sgt to E8 instead of E9). Note that an additional issue in the scoreboard and battle planner relating to some ranks will be addressed in a future update. 
  • Scoreboard wins/losses aren''''t updating after the first round. Now they do. 
  • Added extraction objective color changes to the Battle Planner map Extraction icons are now color-coded. GREEN = The extraction point you are trying to reach. RED = The extraction point you are trying to defend (Carried Objective maps). 
  • Carried objectives will now flash whenever drawn on the Blue Force Tracker expanded map. 
  • Extraction volumes will flash if they are the current extraction volume needed to be reached by the team who is carrying the objective. Also put in a fix to allow swapping of mission briefing stuff when both teams are on secure and extract, and teams change spawning location. 
  • Widened objective text field in battle planner row to prevent cutoff of "W" for Whiskey objectives. 
  • Adjusted the initial mission objectives notification to display for 8 seconds and added writing it to console as well to make it easier to keep track of. 
  • Ready button now appears after the last player on your team has had at least a second to choose a role **AND** you have selected a role yourself. 
  • Fix for server info page not disappearing when it should (ESC pressed, menu page change, etc.

 

Training Fixes

  • Fixing bug for not being able to skip advanced riflemen training dialogue.

 

Maps Fixes

  • Bridge: Fixed a lightmap resolution problem on one of the walls causing an unlit area of the southeast catwalk. 
  • Bridge Fog Classic: Briefing was omitted for the Bridge Fog Classic mission. Added briefing. 
  • Impact: Turned the VIP spawn point around so that they aren''''t facing a wall anymore when they start. 
  • Ranch: Fixed elevation of objective markers 
  • All maps: Updated "Team Briefings" strings in Mission Info for each team and mission type. 
  • Bridge: Tank should no longer be without collision. That was very much a weird one, for some reason the blocking volumes were in the VIP level. 
  • Ranch: Corrected issues on Ranch that caused ACOG and other weapon/attachment/etc. issues.

 

Misc Fixes

  • Enemy soldiers should no longer demonstrate bad third person hand IK attachments while reloading an Obran LMK. 
  • Adjusted STS temporary file fmap file handling so odd characters and spaces in username no longer cause issues when starting the game. 
  • Punkbuster fixes to reduce frequency of getting kicked from a server for no apparent reason. 
  • Changes were made to improve the PunkBuster integration which should address a number of issues reported by players. 
  • Teamspeak 3 will now let you select an input device via the in-game UI and the game validates the list of available devices displayed in the settings menu to make sure they will work with TS3 before letting you select the device (meaning if a device isn’t listed in the settings menu it didn’t pass the TS3 device validation). Changes were also made to allow “on the fly” device changes so you can test various devices either while using the “test voice” button in the settings or while attached to a server. TS3 will also validate the device specified in the configuration file and if it is found to be invalid will revert to the system default device. 
  • VOIP status notifications were removed for this release to fix the crash triggered by players talking when the scoreboard was displayed. We will look into restoring VOIP status notifications in a future update. 
  • Corrected issue where Alley Fog wasn''''t listed as having the TAH mission in the AdminChangeMission help. 
  • Player initiating map vote no longer counts twice when voting. 
  • Changing Vsync setting will now reset the direct 3d device so that changes take effect immediately rather than waiting. 
  • Initial Logitech G15 LCD support. Currently only displays America''''s Army 3 on main LCD display and shows current version and build number. Future versions will introduce additional support. 
  • Corrected the “Stick to the Plan” award notification localization entry so it now appears properly. 
  • Corrected “Ultimate Sacrifice” messaging from saying it requires you to save “two or more” to properly state “one or more. 
  • An issue where “Not On My Watch” localization string was missing was corrected. 
  • Corrected an issue where the server browser was not reporting PB enabled properly all the time. This changes how it asks PB for it being enabled and should eliminate the issue. 
  • Corrected issue where PunkBuster was restarting on server after every round. Now it only restarts after a map change. 
  • New (updated) PBSV tool added to installation. This is the PB service installation tool that is run automatically the first time you install the game. Note that users updating existing installations of AA3 (or those that have already installed PB on their systems for any game) will not need to use this tool. 
  • Updated PB client DLL''''s. You may still wish to run PBSetup.exe to verify your PB is up to date prior to playing this new release.

New Features

Gameplay Fixes

  • Network optimizations to allow up to 20+ players depending on the server’s configuration. 
  • Lean distance set to return user leaning to the full distance. 
  • Fix to issue where heartbeat sound continued after dying when going straight to death state. 
  • The incapacitated Pawn will now transition into Death-state immediately after being secured. 
  • Player no longer gets locked out control wise after returning from pause menu. 
  • Continued tweaks to vault-mantle system to further prevent issues where player may get stuck when going prone. 
  • Added changes to reduce frequency of bullet shell emitters getting stuck in walls. 
  • Tweaked weapon guard logic when medic option is presented. This helps to prioritize prevents the guard from switching back and forth at the edge of the targeting area, potentially causing a misclick to instigate a nearby action (such as vault/mantle) instead of medic. 
  • Low Ready/High Ready will no longer be repeatedly toggled on and off when pulling away from an activated objective and firing. 
  • Corrected issue where available spawn points were not getting reset after team swap. 
  • Fixed issue where player is unable to fire his weapon, after sprinting and stopping pawn performs combat slide. 
  • Fixed issue where breath hold sounds continued in spite of player being incapacitated or killed while holding breath. 
  • Fix for incapacitated pawns sliding slowly away after falling down stairs and being unable to receive aid. 
  • Fixed a bug where the client wasn''t getting it''s crouching/proning flags updated after a failed transition to those states. 
  • Adjusted player prone so that a player’s torso must be supported completely by the ground or floor, otherwise player will fall into crouch position. 
  • Fix for lack of ladder footstep sounds from NME players. 
  • Changing roles during a match did not actually cause role to be swapped at the end of the round, which led to someone who chose the Squad Leader role for the next round not being able to use the Battle Planner Map for objective/rally point assignments. 
  • Rally-points (area of operation markers) now reset before rounds 4, and 7. 
  • Adjustments made to ROE including supporting a “near ROE” distance. This fixes ROE totals so that if the ROE is forgiven the integrity is now given 1/2 of the original penalty and ROE is adjusted so it''s only 1/2 of original damage. This corrects the near/far determination and adds in a new rule that doubles the ROE and scoring penalty for close ROE events (less than ~5m). 
  • Adjustments to leaning added. 
  • Fix for weapon getting stuck down after sprinting vault/slide. 
  • Updates to weapon guard functionality. 
  • Changes to prevent player from climbing ladders while holding a grenade with pin pulled. 
  • Assigning objective as rally point will properly report the location to fire teams. 
  • More tweaks to reduce the chances of “Gunface”. 
  • Weapon guard will not wait for player movement when checking for clearance if the guard was triggered by collision with another player. 
  • Fixed issues with footstep sounds when moving backwards down steep inclines...such as stairs. 
  • Corrected issue where incapacitated pawns were not all facing the same way on all clients. Changed the method used to position and rotate incapacitated pawns so that all players see the same thing. Note that different players may still see the incapacitated player laying on different sides (e.g. One play may see the incapacitated player laying on his left side while another may see him on the right side). This will be addressed in a future update. 
  • Fix to prevent swap to a grenade from cancelling reload if there is no grenade left to swap to. 
  • Adjusted inventory system to limit players from picking up a third rifle. User will be notified that they cannot carry any more weapons. 
  • Fixed issue where the wrong team was given the victory if one team is eliminated during a swapping round (4-6, maybe OT). Now the correct team earns the victory and the correct results are displayed in the AAR when a team is eliminated or a team completes the objectives.

 

Weapons Fixes

  • The m320 will now correctly select its ammo from the misc. inventory list on the right side of the HUD. 
  • Added extra guards to reduce sticking scope effects for some situations. 
  • Added reset for lingering scope effects after a map change. 
  • Added additional checks to prevent scope issues caused by vault-mantle volumes. 
  • Added checks to disallow toggling of fire modes during a melee attack or sprint/ 
  • Added checks to reset scope after falling while holding breath. 
  • Corrected issues causing misplaced aimpoints when using scopes. 
  • Modified reload cancelling for m4/m16 weapons to restore the magazine that had been removed instead of forcing it into a pouch. 
  • Allow selection of iron sights in load out. 
  • Changes to melee attack to tune attack range. 
  • Fix to allow melee smashing of the Bucket’s restaurant windows from the inside. 
  • Disallow shooting while changing weapon modes. 
  • Fix for bullet penetration with very thin materials such as glass. 
  • Tweaked DMR and Obran MSP unscoped aim accuracy. 
  • M249 will now jam if you fire it without pause with an increasing probability of jam. Weapon will not jam until 40 rounds are fired in a burst and then the chance of jam is applied based on a rising scale up (from 1%) up until the player has fired 100 rounds fired where jam likelihood is 25% for each round fired. Obran LMK also has the same jam support the M249 does. 
  • Changes to prevent repeated fire effects at the end of the clip with quick bursts 
  • Holding cooked grenade that explode sometimes didn''t kill player. Now it always does. Holding cooked flash bangs that explode will cause a tiny bit of damage (as well as apply the normal flash bang effects). Holding cooked smoke grenades that explode will not hurt you. 
  • Adjusting NME 320 grenadier mod to sight correctly. 
  • Fix for grenades auto-throwing when you swap between lob/throw while pin is pulled (you can once again cook grenades). 
  • Fixed issue where weapon occasionally would not come back up after a grenade toss.

 

Server Additions/Fixes

  • Lots of server-side optimizations improve performance. 
  • Lots of tweaks to server logging that reduce performance. 
  • Added a server side configuration variable, bShowOpponentExtractionVolume. When set to true, players can see their opponents'' extraction volume in both CO and VIP missions. The current default is set to true.

 

UI Updates

  • Updates to ammo inventory now shows the four different types of ammo on the right side of the display:
  • m16/m4 clip 
  • m249 SAW box 
  • m320 m433 grenade launcher frag 
  • m320 m714 grenade launcher smoke

These icons should contain a picture representing their ammo type. They should also match the style of the other miscellaneous inventory.

  • Changed the Ready button on the Pre-Game screens to to be more obvious. Ready button also added to the Role Select screen. 
  • An issue where the ACOG filter was very rarely being enabled after launch of game and would cause blurring of background at the login screen has been corrected. 
  • Teamspeak now resets when players switch servers so that the HUD notifications are properly triggered if a player changes to a new server or the server switches maps and the player''s client travels to the new map. 
  • The "Honor Only" filter was updated to show both honor and non-honor bearing servers when set to no. When set to "yes" it shows only honor bearing servers. 
  • Added client-side messaging to explain being unable to toggle the m320 rangefinder during reloads. 
  • Fix for interface settings message display setup where the ''server'' and ''none'' options were functionally inverted. 
  • Player is now notified correctly when objects block and/or interrupt combat slides and dives. 
  • Added UI support for the new shadow options. 
  • Ready button now works properly on Role Select screen at all times. Also added new feature of check marks next to players'' names on Role Select and Battle Planner to show which players have actually voted "ready". 
  • The posture indicator should no longer display prone after a failed prone transition. 
  • Added back buttons to all Go Army child pages and fixed some graphical bugs. 
  • Messaging for some missions is incorrect (VIP especially) when enemy team is eliminated. This corrects multiple missions’ “messaging”. 
  • Rank wasn’t displayed correctly in game UI. This corrects SMA rank display and next rank display in Soldier overview (and changes how the next rank to display is calculated). It corrects one the rank field for one rank in the rank conversion table (changes First Sgt to E8 instead of E9). Note that an additional issue in the scoreboard and battle planner relating to some ranks will be addressed in a future update. 
  • Scoreboard wins/losses aren''t updating after the first round. Now they do. 
  • Added extraction objective color changes to the Battle Planner map Extraction icons are now color-coded. GREEN = The extraction point you are trying to reach. RED = The extraction point you are trying to defend (Carried Objective maps). 
  • Carried objectives will now flash whenever drawn on the Blue Force Tracker expanded map. 
  • Extraction volumes will flash if they are the current extraction volume needed to be reached by the team who is carrying the objective. Also put in a fix to allow swapping of mission briefing stuff when both teams are on secure and extract, and teams change spawning location. 
  • Widened objective text field in battle planner row to prevent cutoff of "W" for Whiskey objectives. 
  • Adjusted the initial mission objectives notification to display for 8 seconds and added writing it to console as well to make it easier to keep track of. 
  • Ready button now appears after the last player on your team has had at least a second to choose a role **AND** you have selected a role yourself. 
  • Fix for server info page not disappearing when it should (ESC pressed, menu page change, etc.

 

Training Fixes

  • Fixing bug for not being able to skip advanced riflemen training dialogue.

 

Maps Fixes

  • Bridge: Fixed a lightmap resolution problem on one of the walls causing an unlit area of the southeast catwalk. 
  • Bridge Fog Classic: Briefing was omitted for the Bridge Fog Classic mission. Added briefing. 
  • Impact: Turned the VIP spawn point around so that they aren''t facing a wall anymore when they start. 
  • Ranch: Fixed elevation of objective markers 
  • All maps: Updated "Team Briefings" strings in Mission Info for each team and mission type. 
  • Bridge: Tank should no longer be without collision. That was very much a weird one, for some reason the blocking volumes were in the VIP level. 
  • Ranch: Corrected issues on Ranch that caused ACOG and other weapon/attachment/etc. issues.

 

Misc Fixes

  • Enemy soldiers should no longer demonstrate bad third person hand IK attachments while reloading an Obran LMK. 
  • Adjusted STS temporary file fmap file handling so odd characters and spaces in username no longer cause issues when starting the game. 
  • Punkbuster fixes to reduce frequency of getting kicked from a server for no apparent reason. 
  • Changes were made to improve the PunkBuster integration which should address a number of issues reported by players. 
  • Teamspeak 3 will now let you select an input device via the in-game UI and the game validates the list of available devices displayed in the settings menu to make sure they will work with TS3 before letting you select the device (meaning if a device isn’t listed in the settings menu it didn’t pass the TS3 device validation). Changes were also made to allow “on the fly” device changes so you can test various devices either while using the “test voice” button in the settings or while attached to a server. TS3 will also validate the device specified in the configuration file and if it is found to be invalid will revert to the system default device. 
  • VOIP status notifications were removed for this release to fix the crash triggered by players talking when the scoreboard was displayed. We will look into restoring VOIP status notifications in a future update. 
  • Corrected issue where Alley Fog wasn''t listed as having the TAH mission in the AdminChangeMission help. 
  • Player initiating map vote no longer counts twice when voting. 
  • Changing Vsync setting will now reset the direct 3d device so that changes take effect immediately rather than waiting. 
  • Initial Logitech G15 LCD support. Currently only displays America''s Army 3 on main LCD display and shows current version and build number. Future versions will introduce additional support. 
  • Corrected the “Stick to the Plan” award notification localization entry so it now appears properly. 
  • Corrected “Ultimate Sacrifice” messaging from saying it requires you to save “two or more” to properly state “one or more. 
  • An issue where “Not On My Watch” localization string was missing was corrected. 
  • Corrected an issue where the server browser was not reporting PB enabled properly all the time. This changes how it asks PB for it being enabled and should eliminate the issue. 
  • Corrected issue where PunkBuster was restarting on server after every round. Now it only restarts after a map change. 
  • New (updated) PBSV tool added to installation. This is the PB service installation tool that is run automatically the first time you install the game. Note that users updating existing installations of AA3 (or those that have already installed PB on their systems for any game) will not need to use this tool. 
  • Updated PB client DLL''s. You may still wish to run PBSetup.exe to verify your PB is up to date prior to playing this new release.

Da dieser Patch leider zu viele Neuerung mit sich bringt, steht dieses mal leider kein Update zur Verfügung. Es muss ein kompletter Reinstall gemacht werden!

 

Vor dem Reinstall sollte die Komplette Konfiguration gesichert werden, da diese Daten bei dem Reinstall Überschrieben wird! Zumindest sollte die Datei "DefaultGame.ini" gesichert werden, da diese Datei die wichtigesten Server Einstellungen enthält!

We are pleased to announce the release of the latest update to America’s Army 3. Due in no small part to your feedback our development team has identified and addressed many of the issues you''ve told us about. We have also updated our in-game VOIP, created a new (but classic) variation of Bridge, and added some useful server administrator tools.

Featured in this update are two new service awards. The AA3 One Year Anniversary Achievement will be awarded to all AA3 players who log into the game between the update release date and July 5th.

The AA3 Years of Service Achievement is automatically awarded to any player with an AA3 account for at least one year. This special service award will appear in your personnel jacket as a star with a number reflecting your years as an AA3 player.

The next release of the game client is currently in QA.

We will perform another synchronized client/server update. It is expected to take place early next week.

The client update will be roughly 500MB in size.


Changelog:

Server - Some potential sources for lag/rubberbanding have been eliminated
Server - The old reserved slots has been replaced by a kick-on-demand system like in BF2

Da dieser Patch leider zu viele Neuerung mit sich bringt, steht dieses mal leider kein Update zur Verfügung. Es muss ein kompletter Reinstall gemacht werden!

 

Vor dem Reinstall sollte die Komplette Konfiguration gesichert werden, da diese Daten bei dem Reinstall Überschrieben wird! Zumindest sollte die Datei "DefaultGame.ini" gesichert werden, da diese Datei die wichtigesten Server Einstellungen enthält!

Americas Army 3 Version 3.0.7 Coming Soon

After four months of concentrated effort by our Redstone Arsenal development team, we are proud to announce the upcoming release of the next version of Americas Army 3. The development of version 3.0.7 has focused very heavily on fixes and includes a few new additions.

This release also focuses on enhancing training missions. Exactly how we should approach updating training was the subject of many debates at the AGP offices. However after polling some community leaders and our own Beta Testers and Community Managers, and understanding that not everyone will agree, we believe we have the best plan in place.

Everyones training will be completely reset to the beginning; however, you will retain all your Honor points and non-training awards and badges. Everyone will be required to retake and complete all training missions. While this may be a minor inconvenience to some, we feel this is the best and most fair way to reactivate the training missions. Were simultaneously issuing three new AA Mission Challenges on the Americas Army YouTube channel to make completing the training missions a little more rewarding.

Americas Army Version 3.0.7 Release Notes

WHATS NEW

We added a new version of Alley in addition to keeping the original version of Alley. The new version of Alley is a foggy daylight version which we feel changes the game play quite a bit. Note that while this new Alley maps layout is the same as the original Alley, we anticipate future AA3 updates will include completely new maps as well as different times of day and weather of existing maps.

Deploy Client integration of Buddy Lists, displaying who''s online, indication of buddies on servers, and ability to launch game servers.

Weve also added the Steam Browser (using Shift-TAB) to allow players to allow Steam features in-game and integrated the Buddy List. Joining or inviting a buddy to join a game server has never been easier.

UPDATES

Maps

We have reactivated the Training Missions. All Training Achievement Points as well as all Honor and non-training related experience points will remain intact. Players who have less than 50 Achievement Points, will receive up to an additional 25 AP, to allow access to the first AIT training levels once Basic Combat training is complete. All non-training related awards and badges will remain intact.

Servers

We have lowered the default maximum number of players to 18 players. We are aware that on some server setups 26 players works fine. We will continue to look to improve the server performance to try and allow all servers to run 26 players, but recognize that with 3.0.7 most servers run well up until around 18 players join the server. Server providers may still modify the MaxPlayers value back up to 26 if their hardware supports it, but we recommend for most leaving it at the default of 18. We have also modified the default settings to open all weapon slots regardless as to how many players are in the server so the SDM role will be available despite not having two full Fire teams due to the maximum player restriction. Server operators may enable the normal restrictions if their server supports more players.

WHATS FIXED

General

  • Fix to eliminate issue where players view became stuck in the zoomed-in mode when player was incapacitated while looking through Scope.
  • Squad leader is no longer considered for ''promotion'' to fireteam leader if a fireteam leader dies.
  • Fireteams being locked out because players leave the server will not disable occupied positions.
  • Disabled lockouts for mid-match role changes. You can now select roles that were not originally selected at the start of the match.
  • Corrected issue when securing enemy after enemy is killed with melee, the damage type is reported incorrectly.
  • VIP Select Role has M4A1 weapon bug fixed.
  • M320 fires 40mm grenades with rifle rounds issue fixed.
  • M320 grenades now break glass windows.
  • Fixed reload issue caused by cancelling mid-reload.
  • Corrected end of match handling so that round time is no longer considered for incrementing matches played.
  • Fixes wounded by tracking to reset at end of each round so players who kill themselves in the next round don''t give the original instigator credit for a kill.
  • Role-selection no longer disabled during game and deployment phases. Role for the next round may be chosen during the current round.
  • Player can now modify loadout options while match is in progress.
  • Fixed issue where ambient sound effects were turned off after modification of detail settings.
  • Objective progress bar will return to the screen after displaying scoreboard or other panels.
  • Soldiers will no longer be able to take activated objectives while performing such actions as shooting, reloading, changing weapons, or readying sights.
  • Tracing for enemy spotted commo now ignores windows, allowing you to ''spot'' an enemy that you can see through windows.
  • Fixed misnamed mission selection for Range map. Demolition selection is actually Assault (activated objective).
  • Enabled and enhanced weapon guard use for multiplayer.
  • Fixed a bug causing the rotation of doors to possibly become out of synch between the client and server when a client joins a server that had previously completed a round.
  • Updated all mission sublevels so that the SDM or other specialized role in Charlie team is now in the 2nd slot.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed you to fire bullets while adjusting the M320 rangefinder.
  • Fix for bug where bullet shell emitters will hang midair when colliding with damage volumes.
  • Change to default time-out for MBS to 1000ms.
  • Fix for One Man Army being awarded without player playing at least six rounds in a match.
  • Fix for tapping out players not having their "playtime" statistics being recorded.
  • Corrects reporting of OnlineTime statistics when player leaves mid-round so current round''s time isn''t lost.
  • Update to disallow shooting weapon while falling.
  • Fix to issue where user starts a reload, sprints before reload finishes, then weapon shows reloaded but unable to fire.
  • Players can no longer start a reload while their weapon is in the guard state.
  • Leaning while prone is no longer allowed.
  • Changes to weapon guard for crouch and prone states to avoid some gameplay issues (such as shooting straight down from ledges).
  • Added round discard ability for tournaments.
  • Fixed inability to reload after a cancelled reload of M249.
  • Player can no longer interact with doors while reloading a weapon.
  • Fixed the bug that was causing the reload animation to play even after interrupted by sprinting.
  • Disabled the ability to shoot while going to or from prone position. Going to or from prone will also now lower your weapon if it was previously sighted.
  • Changed fall damage to calculate based on distance fallen by predicting the velocity the pawn should have reached falling from a distance.
  • Fixed Magazine Count Increases after Reloading From Spawn issue fixed.
  • Fixed Player able to obtain 11 points for healing pawn.
  • Added default keybinds for home and end to operate the ''thank you'' and ''sorry'' voice commos.
  • Locked out role selection once role selection and battle planner time expire. During the default 10 second prep time no role changes can be made, though loadouts can still be changed.
  • Fixed AA_Damage volumes to respect grenade impact damage.
  • Fixed to more than 1 VIP spawning. Prevent multiple VIPs from auto-assigning.
  • Fixed issue with retracted rifle when breathing fov zoom occurred after the weapon is unscoped.
  • Fixed direct sprint from prone not working and putting weapon in safe mode.
  • Czervanian ladder eats man alive bug fixed.
  • Tactical toggle on ladder moves pawns hands to weapon.
  • Corrected issue where doors will push back when the player bumps into them. Also made changes to the timeframe in which players could not close a door after it had opened to its extent.
  • Fix to remove invalid bridge mission selection.
  • Players pawn will no longer be left in transition mode when putting down the M320 while the rangefinder is still up.
  • Fix to the sound cues for "Report In" and "Report Location.
  • The M320 rangefinder will now remember if it has been left up, after the player swaps to another weapon and then comes back.
  • Vault/Mantle calls when right next to an object will now replicate to the server, properly starting the VM sequence.
  • Changed Vault/Mantle so that it does not get stuck in a moving state where the player would be locked into trying to reach a point that is not reachable.
  • Vault mantle obstacle height trace will try again from a slightly different position if it fails. This specifically fixes vaulting onto the park bench static mesh (which has gaps), but may potentially fix any situation in which we need to vault onto a mesh with gaps.
  • Materials modified to adjust emissive boost so levels light better.
  • Headshots now track properly for Consummate Professional achievement when the SDM has been promoted to squad leader.
  • Added messaging when player cannot lean and corrects calculation error that improperly prevented leaning when walls were close.
  • Optimizations to statistics handling to move more of it to native code to speed things up. Adds in new player left training statistics to better track how long players are in training.
  • Enemy spotted now reports comm volume location names.
  • ATS rule corrections fixes tracking of alley matches played and adjusts bridge matches played tracking to attempt to correct both.
  • Corrects achievement data tracking to prevent false reports of either earning an achievement multiple times in a single session or not being told they''ve achieved an achievement due to the counters resetting on the server.
  • Reduced HUD display and Trigger distance for vault/mantle use by about 35. This addresses many complaints about VM display before the player is near the intended mantle object.
  • Map votes can no longer be cast over and over for same vote.
  • Fix to prevent FOV from shifting after incapacitation.
  • Player can no longer reload while cycling fire modes.
UI
  • Updated ALL AAR panels with new panel design.
  • Distinguished Grenadier now showing progress in Achievements UI.
  • Adds Current Round ("x/6 or""OVERTIME") to HUD directly left of time remaining. Also displays whether this is a "non-scoring round" for discarded rounds.
  • Fixed issue where after completion of training, the enlistment and graduation cinematic remain locked on the Common training media screen.
  • MOS Training modified to remove the lock icon to merely indicate that new training is available.
  • Spotless Record Achievement Coin issue fixed.
  • Modified UpdateAdvancement to check for any changes made to the current soldier''s statistics. If there is a change, the statistics will update. This allows for updating statistics in-game after training and online play without needing to log back in.
  • Pausing the game will now pause a full screen BINK movie that is playing. Similarly, unpausing the game will unpause the movie fixing desync issues.
  • Fix for soldier overview while updating enemy neutralized match record.
  • VIP missions not reporting results in AAR correctly.
  • Added notification to console when teams are about to change sides.
  • Voting panel will now grey out the option for map voting when it is disabled on the server. Rolling over the button will now reveal text explaining that the option is disabled on the server.
  • AA_Main_Soldier_Overview updated to display properly for new soldiers.
  • Fixes situation where command line connection information is provided, player joins server, then disconnects, logs off and then logs in again and is automatically connected to server from command line.
  • Adds in a "connecting" dialog when connecting via command line just like browser uses.
  • Fixed glitch in server browser with history and favorites tab.
  • Fix for battleplanner map floating around and losing its rightful place.
  • Changes to UI to show proper text when player cheated in Medic training.
  • Fixed misleading ServerAddBlockedPlayer messages.
  • Fixed issue where badges appear incorrectly in the AAR.
  • Added text for Loyalty in the Game Help menu.
  • ATS rule updated to correct display of Security Specialist achievement.
  • Support for new Soldier Overview UI functions to query the minimum XP required for any specific level.
  • Changes have been made to end of round AAR and scoreboard timing. Added configuration flag that determines how long the end of round AAR displays, that determines time shown only for the scoreboard instead of the total AAR scoreboard time allowed. The defaults are set to 5 seconds in the spirit of speeding up game turnaround time.
  • Prevent graphic quality settings from overwriting other graphic related ini values. Will allow players to fine tune their performance settings a bit more within ini than the UI allows for and still be able to use the UI without resetting those changes.
  • Fix to allow favorites to be removed from server list.
  • Progress for Take And Hold not displaying in Achievements UI (was trying to display completed TAH rounds, not TAH objectives completed count).
  • Fixes to TAH objective completion tracking and Security Specialist achievement.
  • Added "OVERVIEW" link in the Go Army > Careers pane.
  • RND removed from UI single player training missions.
  • Combat Infantryman medal shows localization tag instead of localized text in soldier overview.
  • Issue where suppressive results not tracking/awarding correctly fixed. Fixes UI achievements so progress is displayed and addresses issue related to determining when suppressive result progress should be incremented.
  • Redesigned the end-of-round panel to provide a graphical description of the current match to augment the textual description. Moved achievements to the disappearing sidebar to free up space.
  • Win/loss percentage statistics display in UI corrected.
  • Removed unused radial menus.
Training

AIT Rifleman Tier 1

  • Timer now waits until the first buzz before it starts counting.
  • Drill Sergeant instructs non-existent soldiers to enter lanes issue fixed.
AIT Grenadier Tier 1
  • Corrects scoring so it matches what was actually implemented as far as max points go.
  • Fix to allow completion of AIT Grenade training even though player misses both times with the smoke rounds.
  • Fixed grenadier AIT Tier 1 so score tracking is handled uniquely and as a result now correctly handles missed targets on any phase of the qualification (and the resulting AAR now correctly shows the hits/misses for each phase).
  • Pawn Stuck to Sandbags and Cannot Complete Training issue fixed.
  • No Visual or Audio Prompt that training is completed issue fixed.
BRM
  • SPORTS is reported without malfunction issue fixed.[./list]CLS
    • Removed the timer from the HUD display during the training.
    • Bink demonstration movies started in the level can now be paused and unpaused fixing desync issues.
    ConnexMOUT
    • Fix to OPFOR target confirmation bug.
    • Added a blocking volume to side storage area fence.
    • Fix added to MOUT training allowing targets to be spotted on SAI/HUD.
    • Enemy should now be confirmable. Looks like there are 2 checkboxes and I missed one.Adjusted collision on barbed wire asset to allow them to be scaled non-uniformly.
    • Tweaked the tooltip that shows the ''how to confirm enemy'' to display longer.
    Obstacle Course
    • Added display for user friendly message for stand after combat slide/dive blocked.
    • Turned off collision on obstacle to help with the vault/mantle problem.
    • Fix for issue with unlocking training UI button after completion and returning to main menu.
    • Revisited blocking volumes to optimize level.
    ShortRange
    • Enabled collision on the wood cover mesh.
    SDM Training
    • Repaired next rank display for SDM training AAR.
    • Fixed the Green arrow not appearing in SDM1 (seemed to be working in PIE but not game) should work overall now.
    • Added some warnings to keep your firing in your lane. Adjusted the volume on the range tower, so you actually have to hit the top of the tower to get punished.
    Weapons Familiarization
  • Player should no longer get stuck to sandbags during the 2nd phase of grenadier training.
  • Added an audio cue when you finish the training.
  • The buzzer should sound now before the targets appear at the start of a training round.
  • No longer have an extra explosive round.
  • Now have infinite flashbangs while practicing for the grenade range.
  • Practice targets should be locked out during qualification now.
Map Updates/Bug Fixes

Alley

  • Rotated several spawn points in Take and Hold mission to point in the right direction.
  • Adjusted and added comm volumes. Fixed several bugs with comm volumes, phys materials and collision.

  • Fixes sticky issues with the stairs, also fixed a small terrain popping over bsp error.
  • Adjusted the blocking volume on the foliage so player shouldn''t get stuck as easily.
  • Modified vault/mantle volumes around the tank.
  • Various collision updates added.
Impact
  • Adjusted vault/mantle volumes and added various collision updates to Impact in several locations.
  • Various visual fixes added.
  • Swapped a material on some of the railings that was dark and not lighting properly.
  • Added some rock meshes to keep the player from being able to see through the building. Also added some blocking volumes around the map to try to keep people from escaping the map.
  • Adjusted the foliage draw distances so it no longer disappears/re-appears oddly.
  • Added some rock meshes to keep the player from being able to see through the building.

  • Added blocking volume around the outer fence area to keep players from getting outside the player area.

  • Made some adjustments to cull distance for several objects.
  • Added some more blocking volumes on bridge pieces.
  • Comm volumes have been adjusted and spellings corrected.
  • Updates to stair collision to reduce player from getting stuck.
  • Adjusted the blocking volume under the edge of the wall so player cannot peak through anymore.
  • Added a blocking volume on the 2nd story door at the barn.
  • Added a rock next to the bridge so you have something to stand on, should be harder to get stuck now.

Der Patch ist wie immer im Game Panel unter Game Updates zu finden und kann ganz einfach per Mausklick installiert werden!

 

Solltet ihr einen Reinstall machen, braucht ihr nachher diesen Patch nicht mehr Installieren, der ist dann bereits mit dabei!

We are pleased to announce the release of exciting new features available through the Account Management Website (AMW) and the Deploy Client. These features will allow you instant access to important information and tools to help you and your team plan each mission.

Unprecedented in Americas Army, the tools offered on AMW allow you to see maps in a whole new way and gain critical insight that will enhance your teams ability to dominate each challenge increasing your chances for success. Additionally, player personnel jacket information is now conveniently available directly from the Deploy Client which affords you valuable Intel about your opponents.

 

 

Heres a summary of some of these great new features:

 

Leaderboards:

The all new leaderboards display the top players in a wide variety of categories. Learn who the best of the best are with stats such as Highest Match Score, Accuracy, Objectives Completed and a whole lot more.

You can also filter this information to see just the lists you desire or select a specific Soldier. Clicking on a Soldiers name will call up that players personnel jacket allowing you to assess his or her strengths or weaknesses.

 

AMW: Combat Maps:

If youve ever looked at an atlas population map, then Combat Maps will be simple to understand. Simply put, Combat Maps display a small colored dot in the exact position where a player has been eliminated. The more densely colored an area of the map, the more players have been eliminated in that area.

Use this information to learn where most of the action occurs on a specific map - - - which routes are most favorable and which tend to offer the most resistance. Identify where the best places are to set up an ambush and when to make sure you move carefully under cover.

Studying these maps will allow you the best chance of successfully completing your mission by helping you to better understand the dynamics of each map. This brings us to the next feature...

 

AMW: Battle Planner:

Acting much like a whiteboard, the new Battle Planner allows you to draw directly on top down overview images of AA3 maps. Gone is the confusion of trying to tell a teammate to go to a particular corner of a specific building. With Battle Planner, you can draw the route right on the map for your teammate to see and execute.

Simply by clicking points onto the map overview you can draw routes for up to three different fire teams (Alpha, Bravo and Charlie). Each teams route appears in a different color. If you make a mistake, its simple to undo the last point in your route, or just clear the routes and start over.

But what good is your plan if your teammates cannot see it? Battle Planner handles this too by allowing you to email the plan to your squad. You can choose to type in each players email address manually or, even easier, select the player names from your MyAA3 buddy list.

 

Deploy Client: Personnel Jacket:

Every Soldiers statistics are right there at your fingertips. Access by the top most of the three gold buttons on Deploy (the one that looks like a graph) youll have your own detailed stats, as well as every other Americas Army players stats. At the click of a button, you can review things like:
• Soldier Advancement
• Training History
• Mission History
• Achievements
• Accuracy & Performance
Just type in your Soldier name, or the name of a player youd like to learn more about and these comprehensive stats are instantly available to you. Never enter battle again without knowing who youre up against!

 

Deploy Client: Server Browser:

Last but by no means not least is the all new Deploy Server Browser. This powerful tool allows you to see all AA3 servers available to you but it doesnt stop there. You can also filter your last with some handy drop down windows to find a server you like. Filter for things like Map Name, Player Count, Mission Type, and a whole lot more.

Clicking the middle of the three gold buttons (the one that looks like a globe) returns a pop up window with a complete list of all AA3 servers. Click anywhere along the row on a server reveals another pop up with every detail about that server. Its name, mission, game type, number of players, who those players are, and much more.

Clicking on a players name will call up yet another pop up with all the statistics for that player. You can even click on several playersnames to review all their stats at the same time.

Once you decide which server youd like to join, simply click on the server and then click the Join Server button. As long as you have your game client user name and password saved and set to automatically log in, youll be in the action in no time.

So fire up the all new Deploy Client and head over to AMW to check out all the terrific new AA3 features that are "Powered by Pragmatic" and get the edge youll need to ramp up your squads effectiveness to the next level!

Americas Army 3.0.6 > Patch Release!

 

AA3 Patch 3.0.6 wurde soeben released! Alle Kunden können Ihren Game Server selber und ganz einfach auf die neue Version Patchen.

Leider ist bei diesem Patch ein Kompletter Reinstall des Game Servers nötig. Also vorher alle Wichtigen Daten sichern.

 

 

Für Honorserver Kunden, sind diese Daten in der DefaultGame.ini besonders Wichtig, speziell jene beiden Zeilen:

 

sAuthServerUserName=Dein_User_Name
sAuthServerPassword=Dein_Passwort

 

Diese beiden Zeilen in der Konfiguration müssen nachher wieder Eingesetzt werden, damit der Server auch im Honor Modus rennt.

Training:

    * Corrected error that sometimes resulted in hangs when starting
      training missions
    * Fixes single player sprint/dive failing to bring back weapon after
      grenade toss
    * Adds a "valid hit" audio prompt to AIT Advanced Rifleman to make it

JA! Es ist soweit, das Warten hat ein Ende. Ab sofort können alle Hosters.at Kunden ganz einfach per Game Panel (www.gamepanel.hosters.at) Ihren Server auf die Aktuelle Version 1.5 Umstellen.

 

 

Achtung!!! Alle Server müssen bis spätestens 6.9.2009 auf die neue Version Umgestellt sein. Sonst schaltet EA die Ranked Lizenz auf den noch nicht gepatchten Servern ab!

 


Es gibt 2 Möglichkeiten das Ganze zu erledigen:

 

  • 1) Per Game Updates im Game Panel. Das ist die Beste Möglichkeit, weil durch diese Methode keine Daten und Einstellungen verlorengehen. Einfach installieren, und abwarten bis die Installation durchgelaufen ist. Das kann etwas Zeit in Anspruch nehmen, also bitte etwas Geduld!

 

  • 2) Einen Kompletten Reinstall des Servers. Das geht auch wieder per Game Panel. Dort einfach auf Reinstall Klicken und Hostanme (Servername) und Rcon Passwort (Admin Passwort) eingeben und auf Continue klicken.

To install Battlefield 2 Update v1.50 you must have Battlefield 2 updated to version 1.41 or Battlefield 2 Complete Collection from EA Store installed. - Added Battlefield 2142 style prone deviation (going prone will now cause reduced accuracy for a brief period)

- Increased the splash damage of the UH-60 (Black Hawk) guns from 0.25 to 1.5

Americas Army 3.0.5 > Patch Release!

 

AA3 Patch 3.0.5 wurde soeben released! Alle Kunden können Ihren Game Server selber und ganz einfach auf die neue Version Patchen.

Der Patch ist wie immer im Game Panel unter Game Updates zu finden und kann ganz einfach per Mausklick installiert werden!

 

Solltet ihr einen Reinstall machen, braucht ihr nachher diesen Patch nicht mehr Installieren, der ist dann bereits mit dabei!


Release Notes:

• More messaging when unable to connect to server for particular circumstances like full servers, etc.
• More enhancements to PunkBuster implementation.
• Adds in switching viewpoints during pb validation and adds in messaging to let player know something is happening.
• Streamlined the server connect
• Adjusted the ftmp cleanup logic so it works properly on the server.
• New Auth SDK that fixes MBS query issues, several crashes, and memory leaks.
• Better feedback to players kicked from training due to not being qualified.
• Fixes to player count in Internet Browser
• Fix for hud decrementing frag grenade round display when 320 ammo types are switched.
• Frag grenade loadout fixes
• Cleanup of client stat file on startup so bad stats won''t hang players joining training.
• Removes "player didn''t play in round" debugging message from logs
• Fixes accessed nones caused by mission lost statistics when player isn''t alive at end of round
• Adjustments to clan tag support to allow use of a prefix (+ is add it as a suffix, - add as prefix, and anything else uses the "of xxx" format from 3.0.4).
• Prevent going prone while tossing a grenade
• Report full server to user message and bad/wrong password to user in message box after being kicked from server
• Adds in ability to left click on a server in MBS and have its information updated if it hasn''t been updated recently (in last 10 minutes).
• Adds new message box if the connection times-out so user knows what happens if they step away and the client fails to connect to the server.
• Added pbsetup and a simple batch wrapper to call necessary commands to setup a system for using PB (Binaries\pbsetup_help.bat).

Da ihr aber hier bei Hosters.at seid, haben wir bereits alle AA3 Server auf die aktuelle Version gepatched! Ihr braucht also nichts mehr machen ausser Zocken ... !!!

* Added Clan support. Add clan tag in Account Settings. You must change information while in single player mode for now.
* Admin VOIP Improvements
* New "version" console command to see the current version
* Server browser performance improvements
* Fixes joining password protected servers so it no longer selects the server underneath the mouse cursor when clicking on the "Join" button in the password entry dialog.
* Fix for settings menu improperly closing when ESC pressed and leaving the player stuck with no UI and limited control
* Mission generation optimizations
* Fixed issue with logging into game servers that sometimes used another player''s soldier profile.
* New TS3 SDK integrated
* Improves how server manages authentication objects
* Fixes issue with players being added to the scoring system not having all of their scoring data written.
* Fixes issue where players not logged into MBS were being logged out if they left the server prior to authenticating
* M320 grenade attaching issue resolved.
* Dedicated server title bar now shows mission and player details
* Fixes the "Waiting for other players" UI so it now appears again.
* Removes some server logging
* Increased communications handling to support when all players use heavy load outs. This may correct many instances where players didn''t spawn correctly or get the correct load out.
* Fixes the M320 getting an extra round of ammo
* Fixes the Account Settings password changing not working properly
* Fixes the IRC link not working
* Fixes the displayed mission type (assault/defense/etc.) shown in the battle planner so it displays properly after side-swapping

* Fixes TeamReady in Mission Preplanning
* Updated authentication SDK to improve reliability and performance.
* Fix for freezing on training mission load
* Improved performance on loading maps/training missions
* Fixed several small memory leaks
* Fixed performance issue with server that caused it to load UI elements into the server (where they aren''t needed) and thus use up additional CPU and memory.
* Modified training authentication so it is more efficient
* Modified AMD negative delta time exception handling so it no longer stops the server or client, just logs the event.
* Fixed admin add player admin
* Fixed admin kicking of players. Now works properly with soldier name and has optional kick by player ID

* Modifies MBS to track how many players are playing vs. how many players are on the server (player + Spectators) and now MBS browser only shows the number of players (so count won''t exceed max players)
* Turns HUD off whenever menu is activated (still an issue with battle planner activation the first time, however)
* Adjusts the close menu logic to always close properly so double menus should no longer happen

Wir warten leider noch immer auf die Honor Lizenzen für AA3, Pragmatic Arbeitet mit Hochdruck daran alle Anfragen von Umstellungen abzuarbeiten, dies kann leider noch etwas Zeit in Anspruch nehmen. Wir bitten um noch um etwas Geduld.

Jaaaaaa! Es ist soweit! Ab heute wird Americas Army 3.0 Offiziell Released! Das Spiel ist natürlich weiterhin Kostenlos!

Hosters.at ist natürlich auch mit von der Partie und wird euch wie schon bei der AAO Version 2.5, 2.6 und 2.8.5 mit den besten Honor Servern versorgen!

Trotz Finanzkrise bleiben die Honor Server Preise gleich wie bei der alten Americas Army Version 2.8.5 (die auch noch weiterhin zur Verfügung steht, sowie auch noch ältere Versionen speziell für MAC Gamer!)

 

Das Umstellen auf die neue AA 3.0 Version ist jederzeit Möglich, ein Ticket im Game Panel www.gamepanel.hosters.at genügt und der Server wird umgestellt! Durch die Umstellungen gehen ALLE Daten Verloren, da es nicht anders Möglich ist. Die Konfigs von den älteren AAO Versionen sind nicht mehr verwendbar, da Americas Army 3.0 auf der neuen Unreal Engine 3 basiert!

Zurzeit ist das Umstellen nur in eine Richtung möglich also von der alten AAO Version zur neuen, da wir erst mal den Ansturm Bewältigen müssen und die ganzen Server auf die neue AAO Version ugraden (natürlich nur falls Erwünscht!).

 

Geplant ist zu einem Späteren Zeitpunkt auch ein Switch Server also auf Wunsch alle Americas Army Versionen die wir Anbieten in einem Produkt, dieses Produkt wird aber auch etwas Teurer sein, da 2 Honor Lizenzen Benötigt werden. Genaue Preise stehen aber noch nicht fest.

 

Also dann happy Fragging...Hoahhhhh! Die Umstellung kann Beginnen!

Updated Missions


Urban Assault
A coalition convoy was raided and the cargo was stolen. It has been confirmed that the insurgents and the cargo are based in a residential area of the city. Due to the dense urban nature of the area it will be necessary to do a house by house assault on foot.  Observe and report any suspicious objects or activities using ES2 training. Use appropriate force against positively identified enemy combatants only. Minimize damage to local infrastructure.

Hospital Rescue
Following an ambush by enemy forces, a wounded Resistance leader escaped to a neutral hospital for treatment of his wounds. The leader is a critical member of the Resistance government within Unconventional Warfare Area of operations (UWAO) JAZZ. Observe and report any suspicious objects or activities using ES2 training. Be advised civilian hospital employees may be present in contested area. Use appropriate force against positively identified enemy combatants only. Minimize damage to local infrastructure.

Courtyard
Intelligence reports that an illegal arms dealer is planning to transfer stolen top secret material to an agent of a known terrorist organization. Location of sensitive material is only known to be located in vicinity C94M98A04. Reports confirm that there are willing informants who know the exact whereabouts of the sensitive material. Observe and report any suspicious objects or activities using ES2 training. Use appropriate force against positively identified enemy combatants only. Minimize damage to local infrastructure.

Bridge Crossing
Enemy forces masquerading as refugees have ambushed the US forces defending abridge at grid WS663429. Your force returning from patrol is now on the hostile side of the bridge, and must link up with your company headquarters to pass along time-sensitive information. Observe and report any suspicious objects or activities using ES2 training. Use any intelligence found to help achieve success of the mission and minimize casualties. Use appropriate force against positively identified enemy combatants only. Minimize damage to local infrastructure.

UPDATES
AI Improvements

Improvements have been made to the civilian AI with regard to use of cover, running from grenade, gunfire. etc.

Bug Fixes

As always we have addressed a number of bugs in this release. A complete list of bug fixes appears below in the v2.8.5 readme.

Americas Army 3 Preview


Americas Army first splashed onto the scene in the summer of 2002, garnering most of its attention because it was a free game aimed getting people more interested in the U.S. Army, specifically joining it. Now, seven years later, the game seems to be coming into its own as more a game than a recruitment tool.


What It Is
Americas Army 3 is the latest iteration of the video game marketing tool developed by the U.S. Army. This latest version of the first-person shooter was built using the Unreal Engine 3 and is packed with more graphic and audio fidelity as well as overhauled stat-tracking, customization and plenty of new bells and whistles. And its free.


What We Saw
I played a couple of matches with three of the developers in a single level of the first-person shooter on The Bridge level. The matches were two versus two and consisted of me dying... lots. I did manage to bag one of them when they tried to sneak up behind me and punk me with a rifle butt to the head.


How Far Along Is it?
I played a beta build of the game, which is slated to come out sometime this year. The developers pointed out that they were still working on polish and things like collision detection.


What Needs Improvement?
Collision Detection: This build is still far from done. While the mechanics are all there, the graphics tend to jitter around too much and collision detection is still quite an issue, with soldiers jutting out a odd angles when crouching near or lying on cover or rubble.
Vaulting: You can only vault objects if you get a running start. Understandable for higher hindrances, but a knee-high fence or rubble shouldnt require backtracking to pick up the speed to get over something.
Ladders: Hopefully this is an issue with collision, because trying to latch onto and then climb up a ladder was a mess, often leading to you scampering against a wall before you could get started or falling from a few feet up.
Polish: The graphics dont pop as much as Id like. Theres still some work needed to make the game compare favorably to the likes of Gears of War 2 or the latest Call of Duty games.


What Needs to Stay the Same?
The Sound: The America Army 3s development team went to extraordinary levels to capture realistic sound. And not just gun shots, but far more importantly the accurate noise of a round passing near your head. You can tell, while playing the game, just how close someone is getting to hitting you just by the sound of the bullet passing by. From pops, to whizzes, the realistic sound effects adds another layer to tactics and makes suppressive fire all the more effective.
Healing: While you can go through training courses to improve your ability to heal other players on the battlefield, all players automatically have some ability to do so. But its not an easy thing to do. To heal an incapacitated player you need to read check their injuries and select the correct treatment among the four listed to heal them. Once they are up and on their feet you need to heal them a second time to reduce the damage done by injuries. Shots to the chest or arms, for instance, slow reloading, while shots to the legs or lower body, slow a player down.
Realism: This is a shooter made by people who work for the Army, you can bet that they get the details, the minutia dead-on. Weapons are accurately modeled after the real thing. The movements are captured from real soldiers, the situations, while all taking place in a fictitious war in a fictitious country, are all based on real tactics. In that sense it doesnt get any more real.
Detailed Scoring System: In the original game you only had to worry about honor, building it to rank up. In this latest version the game tracks seven different Army values and uses all of them to award points which go toward ranking. When players stick together, those points are shared out between them. On top of the scoring and ranking system, the game now also supports achievements, badges and ribbons.
Damage Modeling: This latest Amercias Army breaks the human body down into 16 sections, each of which can take damage and cause different harm to a player. Bullets are tracked in real time and can deflect as they go through different surfaces, they can also ricochet realistically causing injuries. Grenades, when they explode, not only spew ricocheting fragments, but also can kill or stun by sheer concussion.
Movement: Player movement is based on their load out, the more they carry the slower they move. Soldiers can slide into a dive from a run, slide to a crouch. They can lean standing, squatting or laying and, finally, they can melee attack with their rifle.
Pre-Battle Management: Before every encounter players are dropped into a top-down map where they can use markers and routes to discuss tactics and assign tactics, pushing gamers to think more about movement than about running and gunning.


Final Thoughts
Aside from some of the cosmetic issues, Americas Army 3 is shaping up to be quite a solid shooter. The developers listened to their fans and tried to create a game that answered all of the issues of their first two outings. Add the amazing sound, the details of ricochet too the versatile Unreal Engine 3 graphics and you have a game with enormous potential.

Quote: "The America’s Army development team has released some screenshots of their upcoming next-generation release AA3. The images are unique in that they compare similar images from the current game and the highly anticipated new version, AA3.

These images demonstrate a dramatic improvement in the graphic and lighting qualities in AA3 which utilizes the popular Unreal 3 engine. In each of the comparison images, the current version (America’s Army: Special Forces (Overmatch)) is to the right, and the soon to be released new version is to the left.

Fans of the game, which boasts more than 9 million registered players, will quickly recognize the images to be from the Pipeline mission. Pipeline is one of the most popular of the 46 exciting missions to be found in America’s Army. Notice in all the images the extraordinary level of detail and realism the developers have created in the new version.

001: This is a view from the Assault Team’s starting or spawn position. Straight ahead is the Oil Refining Facility’s main entrance.

011: Here a stairway leads down to the North entrance and overlooks the Secondary Valve room, a key strategic location within Pipeline.

017: A favorite position for Advanced Marksmen (snipers) are the exterior vents which lead from the Main Control Room to a rooftop above the facilities main entrance.

023: The core of Pipeline is the Main Control room. It is imperative that the defending team protect this room at all costs. An enemy player can win the engagement by shutting down all critical valves from this computer terminal.

024: The Southern perimeter of the facility will provide some protection as the Assault team moves towards the West entrance and the Exterior Valve room.

025: An interior view of the corridor leading from the North entrance to the Secondary Valve room. This is a favorite ambush site for the defending team."
